Neighbours Cancelled... Again

"Turns out, not everybody needs good Neighbours"

Legendary down-under soap opera Neighbours, once rescued from televisual purgatory by Amazon, has once again been cancelled.

The residents of Ramsey Street will say goodbye on December 2025 after almost 41 seasons in the bag since 1985. Will we be waved off again by Madge's ghost or be treated to another 8 seconds of Kylie and Jason? Who knows?

However this may be, the best character of all time (bar Lou Carpenter maybe) would have exited the show anyway regardless.

Everyone's favourite, cuddly, glasses-losing resident Harold Bishop would have had to bow out one way or another due to the very sad news that his actor, Ian Smith, has been diagnosed with a terminal lung cancer.

I grew up watching the two-times a day, every weekday show here in the UK and the ongoing rivalry between Harold and Lou provided constant amusement. Mr Smith deserves every accolade possible for bringing this character to life, so much so, that if you close your eyes for just a second, you can hear him in your head.

I wish him all the best for the time he has remaining and hope that life is good to him until then.

Neighbours may go away, but Harold Bishop is forever!
